Build Your Own Crystal Tester Circuit (32kHz-24MHz)

This schematic allows for the evaluation of crystal oscillators within a frequency spectrum spanning from 32 kHz up to 24 MHz. Verification of the proper functioning of the crystal resonator is achieved through a diode-controlled signaling LED and a distinct audible tone. Adjustment of the operating range is accomplished via switch S2.

More about components

**74HC4060** The 74HC4060 is a versatile CMOS logic integrated circuit widely used for digital signal processing and control applications. This specific variant offers quadruple buffered pins, ensuring that data is simultaneously transferred to all output pins, facilitating high-speed operation and simplifying circuit design. It is characterized by its low power consumption and robust performance, making it suitable for various electronic systems.

BC547C

The BC547C is a general-purpose NPN bipolar junction transistor (BJT) commonly utilized in switching and amplification circuits. Its low gain and fast switching speed make it suitable for applications where precise control and rapid transitions are required. It’s a widely available and cost-effective transistor commonly found in a broad range of electronic devices.

78L05

The 78L05 is a three-terminal positive voltage linear regulator. It efficiently converts a higher input voltage to a stable, regulated 5V output. The “L” in its designation denotes a low-dropout (LDO) regulator, signifying that it can maintain output regulation even with a relatively small difference between the input voltage and the desired output voltage. This component is frequently employed in power supply circuits where a stable 5V supply is needed.
